2강 문법. Why Vegetarians

1. be동사의 보어로서 의문사절이 사용되었다.

One of the questions many vegetarians are asked is how they stay healthy.

 

2. such...that 용법에서 'such a + 형용사 +명사'의 어순에 유의하자.

Meat is such an important source of protein that vegetarians must have difficulty staying healthy.

 

3. twice as...as는 '두배 만큼 ...한'을 의미한다. twice가 as...as. 앞에 위치한다.

The meat-eaters are twice as likey to die of heart disease as vegetarians are.

 

4. 추가 정보를 나타내는 관계절은 바로 앞에 컴마가 있다. The largest of these is the Hindu religion, which has about 600 million believers in the world.

 

5. not all은 부분 부정을 나타낸다. Not all Hindus are vegetarians. (모든 힌두교도가 채식주의자는 아니다.)

 

6. many의 수식을 받는 중복 명사구와 be동사의 중복 보어는 생략이 가능하다.

Although not all Hindus are vegetarian, many (Hindus) are (vegetarian).
